Mono Continues to Strengthen C-Suite Under Bauer Ownership

Website builder Mono Solutions continued the expansion of its leadership team, appointing Olivier Gerek-Bak as its new chief product officer. Gerek-Bak most recently held management positions at Planday and Endomondo, with B2B software experience coming from stints at BMC Software and Symantec.

“Mono’s vision has always been to empower SMBs with products and technology that help them succeed in the digital world. That is even more important given the current global situation. I’m happy to welcome Olivier Gerey-Bak as part of our executive management team,” Louise Lachmann, CEO & Co-founder of Mono Solutions, told Localogy.

“I look forward to his role in continuously strengthening Mono’s delivery of SMB-centric digital solutions and supporting our partners with best-in-class technology to streamline the servicing of small businesses at scale.”

In March, Mono named Kim Mortensen its new chief commercial officer. Mortensen had 10 prior years’ experience in executive roles at various SaaS companies. The appointment’s goal was to accelerate Mono’s partner growth curve.

A Competitive Field

The competitive small business site builder space demands a best-in-class platform. Therefore, Mono adding a CPO in this environment is a logical and expected move.

Mono faces a strong field, including Duda, which raised $25 million last year. And Wix, which has increasingly set its sites on the small business market, explaining its recent acquisition of Websplanet. However Mono has the backing of its owner, Hamburg-based Bauer Media Group, which is signaling a willingness to invest in Mono.

Bauer acquired Mono Solutions in July 2019. Mono is a primary weapon in its push into the small business market. Bauer’s also acquired SEO firm Sunrise Systems and website builder Camilyo as part of this strategy.

In an unrelated note, Mono has joined other solutions providers in offering free tools to help small businesses during the current economic crisis. Mono is offering a free five-month subscription to its online appointment booking solution.
