Spectrio Expands Digital Signage Footprint with Ping HD Acquisition

Dallas-based digital signage platform Spectrio continues to grow in part through the acquisition of its rivals. The company’s latest conquest is Ping HD, a Denver-based digital signage rival.

This acquisition expands Spectrio’s digital signage footprint. It also provides entree into new customer categories. Ping HD, founded in 2007, is present in many major league baseball, football, and soccer stadiums, as well as college and professional sports arenas. Ping HD also has partners in dining, hospitality, retail, healthcare, education, and cannibas.

“The acquisition of PingHD is important in a number of ways,” Jimmy Hunt, Spectrio’s senior vice president of channel sales and business development, told Localogy Insider.

“It propels our efforts with the Spectrio Partner Program tremendously. PingHD, after all, is well known for its success with and attention to the channel. I look forward to doubling down on our existing overlap of AV/IT and media companies, as well discovering net new channel partners across these industries and beyond.”

Ping HD also brings with it a proprietary cloud-based content management system. This allows its customers to build, manage, and deploy digital signage content from anywhere.

“Here at Ping HD, we’ve always been committed to delivering best-in-class digital signage technology. And we’re excited to join with the Spectrio team to bring even more value to our client relationships,” said Stephen Young, owner of Ping HD. “This partnership gives our clients access to a wide range of new services, as well as a cohort of award-winning content creators to help bring their brand to life in new and unique ways.”

Growth Through Acquisition

As noted, Ping is not Spectrio’s first acquisition. The company has been gobbling up digital signage rivals at a steady pace in recent years.

Last year, Spectrio made two key acquisitions. California-based Enplug was a cloud-based digital signage player. And Screenscape was a digital signage company based in Prince Edward Island, Canada.
